Résumé
After studying the harp with Sidonie Goossens at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama over fifteen years ago, I was engaged to play for the West-End show Evita. Freelance work followed in 42nd Street, Phantom of the Opera, Oliver and Beauty and the Beast.
I travel as far afield as Norfolk. Nearer venues include: the Guildhall, Mansion House, Trinity House, Lincoln's Inn, Goldsmiths' Hall, Claridges, the Dorchester, Ritz, Savoy, Waldorf and St James Palace. I often play at Livery Company dinners and frequently at Royal functions.
My repertoire comprises popular tunes, songs from the musicals, folk tunes and classical pieces, especially arranged for my concert harp.
I begin playing when the guests arrive at the venue and continue through the drinks reception. I move the harp on its trolley to play for the line-up and during the meal. I finish at the speeches which can be three to four hours after arrival.
I entertain at Corporate events, promotions, award ceremonies, receptions, anniversaries, wedding and partnership ceremonies, birthdays, garden parties and funerals. I play to welcome the guests arriving at the venue and continue through the drinks reception. I move the harp on its trolley to play through the meal and usually finish at the speeches. Occasionally I am required to perform with extra musicians on other instruments: flute, oboe, violin, etc.
I wear a long silk dress and can usually match the event colour theme. Inside my harp is a pickup, which feeds my Bose column sound reinforcement. Large functions take this feed into their Public Address system.
Please discuss your event with my Manager, Philip Sefton. I require half my fee on booking, the balance due seven days prior to event. Cheques payable to: Sheila Watts.
